À l'occasion du congrès international sur le cancer du sein qui s'est tenu à St-Gall, en mars 2009, le Prof. Dr. Richard D. Gelber, du IBCSG Statistical Center de Boston aux USA, a reçu le 5e Breast Cancer Award de St-Gall.
