Professor Giuseppe Viale

Professor Giuseppe Viale will be awarded the St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Award 2023, to be delivered during the 18th St. Gallen International Breast Cancer Conference. He is the first pathologist to receive this Award. He added his scientific and professional perspective to provide interdisciplinary discussions for the benefit of the best treatment of individuals with early breast cancer.

Professor Viale is the Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan. Since 2001 he is Chairman of the Central Pathology Office of the International Breast Cancer Study Group (IBCSG, a division of ETOP IBCSG Partners). He has presented his work nationally and internationally and has authored 655 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and 41 chapters in books. He is listed among the “Highly Cited Researchers in the field of Clinical Medicine” (Clarivate, 2016-22).
