We are deeply saddened by the news that our colleague, leader, mentor and dear friend Professor Aron Goldhirsch passed away on February 26 at the age of 73.

Aron Goldhirsch was one of the founders and inspiring leaders of the Ludwig Breast Cancer Study Group and its successor, the International Breast Cancer Study Group (IBCSG). He has been acting for many years as Scientific Chairman and Co-Chairman, as member of the Foundation Council as well as member of the Ethics Committee of IBCSG.

Aron Goldhirsch was a world-renowned, great scientist and a remarkable person, who was loved by us for his wonderful humor and friendship, his spirit, his dedication to excellence in breast cancer research and for his strong commitment for our Group.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with his wife, his children and his entire family at this time.

Aron, we will immensely miss you.
